Fourth Japanese-French meeting: BTAFDOC (5th-7th september 2013)

Here are some pictures taken during the three-days workshop in Normandie, France (5th-7th september, 2013). The workshop was held in a nice place by the seaside near Fécamp. We discussed conditional reasoning, causality, tautologies, developmental aspects of reasoning, and p-validity. Jean Baratgin who took the photographs, Hiroko Nakamura and Yoshimasa Majima were also there.

The one-day conference took place in the Cité des Sciences in Paris today. For those who couldn’t attend the meeting, here are some of the slideshows presented today.

David Over (associate member of PARIS, Durham University) gave a wonderful introduction and overview of the old vs. new paradigm in the psychology of reasoning, focusing on the conditional.

Ikuko Hattori (Ritsumeikan University) gave a very nice talk about causal reasoning, presenting new results about the cultural differences between Japan and France.

Yoshimasa Majima (Hokusei Gakuen University) explored in depth how “initial” hypotheses were made, focusing on the 2-4-6 and similar tasks.

The seminar on the new paradigm in the psychology of reasoning will take place in Paris, 9th september, 2013. It will begin at 8:45 a.m.

The PARIS team is happy to announce its first scientific event about the new paradigm in the psychology of reasoning. It will take place in Paris, Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie , the 9th of september, 2013. More details will be posted soon.
